History of the association in Iran

History of Alcoholics Anonymous in Iran:
In 1372, the first AA meeting in Iran was held by two friends in English at the home of one of the members, but due to the conditions at that time, it was not possible to continue. But in March 1378, the meetings on the topic of reading Alcoholics Anonymous books were re-formed in the homes of the early members of the association, and on 7/17/1378, the first official meeting started in Tehran, on Sehrvardi street, at the Jamiat Aftab building, and for several years, the meetings were sporadic. It was held officially and unofficially in the cities of the country.
In the spring of 2012, in Mashhad, the first twelve-step training session of AA was held intensively by an experienced friend, and then the first AA session started at Jamiat Aftab located in Shahada Square, which after a short time was transferred to Imamate. At the same time as the Azadshahr meeting, a meeting started at the TC location, and then meetings were held at Iranian and Yeganeh clinics.
In December 2016, by holding a one-day workshop in Mashhad about unity and empathy and the importance of conveying the message to other alcoholics, there was enthusiasm among the initial number of members of Mashhad, which was followed by several consultation meetings by veteran members in order to determine Goals for the growth of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings were held, and with the cooperation of other members, the meeting started in several other places, and the result was the formation of a council of representatives of AA groups in Mashhad.
This association is a non-governmental organization and is managed by the members themselves as a board of trustees The activities of the association in more than 3 decades of activity are:
• Regularly holding recovery meetings, printing and publishing books and periodicals of the Alcoholics Anonymous Association of Iran by the translation, printing and editing committee of the publications.
• Introducing the association and its capabilities to the public, organizations, institutions, and related officials and participating in various conferences, exhibitions, and seminars by the public information committee.
• Sending messages to sick people in camps, clinics and hospitals and training members to send messages by the messaging committee to correctional and treatment centers.\n • Introduction of the association through the website and Android application available in Google Play, Google Drive, Myket and Bazaar by the committee of the association site at WWW.AAIRAN.ORG, which has facilities such as:

The association has 23 service districts, in 21 provinces and 111 cities, where two representatives from each district are present in the public service council, and in that council there are ten different service committees along with three administrative officials, which in total include 13 board members. Seventy-two trustees are busy with assigned services.
The service committees of the Public Services Council of Alcoholics Anonymous of Iran are as follows:
Financial affairs, public information, educational workshops, registration of address and group information, translation, printing and editing of AA publications, distribution and sale of AA publications, AA website, document archiving, path of sobriety magazine, messaging to correctional and treatment centers and board of trustees.
